King's College London (informally King's or KCL; formerly styled King's College, London) is a public research university located in London, United Kingdom, and a constituent college of the federal University of London. King's was founded in 1829 by King George IV and the Duke of Wellington and received its royal charter in the same year,〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=About King's – Dates ) "1829 – The Duke of Wellington fights a duel with the Earl of Winchilsea in defence of his simultaneous role in the foundation of King's College and his support of the Roman Catholic Relief Act. The College has five campuses: its main campus on the Strand in central London, three other Thames-side campuses (Guy's, St Thomas' and Waterloo) and another in Denmark Hill in south London.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Campuses & Residences Overview )〕 King's has students and 6,113 staff and had a total income of £604 million in 2013/14, of which £172 million was from research grants and contracts.〔 Its academic activities are organised into nine faculties which are subdivided into numerous departments, centres and research divisions.
